Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid.
Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.


Quick Start



You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Macros

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

A buff gadget would be awesome. Right now I run into issues because I can't see quite enough of my self buffs (it only shows 8, and I'd need about 12)

This would be so f*****g perfect, I can't even describe it to you, lol!

I'm currently using the extremely outdated and no longer developed MinUI frames- and that's exactly how they're laid out (name below, buffs stacking above).

I love the fact that we get crazy new options every time an update drops for this add-on. Beastmode, Wildtide- you are in beastmode.

Problem with Last Gadget 0.3.6...

Hi,

i have a problem with Gagdet Warden when updraging to Gadget 0.3.6. and later

casting is ok for every bar, Deluge, etc... but no hots are displayed, and no stacks.

I think Gadget Warden works fine because i use the last version with Gadget x.x.x, but any changes have been made to Gadget forcing me to use 0.3.52.

The longest outstanding feature has been the 'Buffs' gadget, which is a standalone gadget for displaying a buff/debuff panel anywhere for whichever unit you choose. It's the reason the Unit Frames have always had the option to turn off their built in buffs.

It should be really easy to add, I have no idea why I still haven't done this

Pro, sir. Excellent tweak

Now... the only reason I still use MyUI is:
- Self debuff bars above my unit frame.
- Target debuff bars above target unit frame.
- Target buff icon window on the left side of my screen.

...since I saw you talking about buffs below.

v0.3.64 (RIFT 1.9)

Thanks Hawkmoon, the new version has been modified to work properly in RIFT 1.9 (updated to the new unit availability system).

Also added a couple of options to reverse the sequence of frames within the raid frames panel (you can reverse the order of groups and/or units within each group).

To handle moving buffs above the panel, I might just add another template for now (an 'Upside Down Standard Frame' that has buffs above, and the name etc below) - it'll be really quick to add in that way.

I see you have a new release scheduled, just wanted to toss in my "bug" report.

Since 1.9, many of the raid frames show up blank (dead player) until you /reloadui. Not a huge deal, overall.

I don't use many of the other gadgets other than the badass raidframes.

I'd like to use the unit frames, but I don't want to switch from my other add-on until there's a method to put buffs on TOP of the unit frames instead of below.


This add-on, overall, is pretty beast. Awesome work, Wildtide

I'm in two minds here. Looking at your code made me realise turning it upside down isn't particularly relevant for some of the layouts. 5x4 makes sense, but I'm not sure about any of the others, so I'll probably just add some extra layouts in exactly the same way you have.

If that's the watchdog error from casting, Zorba has said it'll be fixed when 1.9 goes live. If it's something else, I haven't seen it and really hope everything's not going to break tomorrow!

All good ideas, thanks Importing/exporting layouts is already on the list, but the alpha options weren't, and I never thought to add raid marks to spheres (they get far more use than I ever imagined!).

Hey, could you find time to toss in a config-based way to sort Raid frames bottom to top? That way I don't have to hack my lua every time I update gadgets

Also, couldn't use Gadgets on PTS because of spammy errors from libUnitDatabase. Is that a non-issue on live servers? Or do you have/is there a fix?

This let me tell my raid frames to grow upward, 1st group on bottom. Because I'm OCD about stuff like that.

That's a bug then. However, I'm replacing that logic with a simple option to turn off the background in the next release, which should sort the problem once and for all.

I'll also keep hassling Zorba to give us some options to work around it

The transparent box is normal. At the moment (hopefully not forever), RIFT has certain restrictions that mean I cannot prevent the area of the screen where the unit frame sits from processing mouse clicks.

Without the transparent box, you just have an invisible part of the screen that doesn't respond to the mouse, and it's really confusing. The box is there simply to show you that something is there.

If you disable the click functionality on your target frame, the box should disappear. This might not be a bad idea for the target, seeing as click-to-target makes no sense on a target frame anyway.
I made a frame of my target (and target of target) and disabled click functionality, but i still get the box when no target is selected.

First off, I love Gadgets! I've tried the others and nothing seems to compare to your addon
I just wanted to make a few suggestions for future releases:
- An import/export feature (which you've already addressed in my earlier post)
- The ability to see your faction on unit frame. At times we enter a WF as a mercenary and it'd be nice to have a quick way of seeing which faction we are without scanning through chat or checking the PvP leadership board. It would be also helpful while targeting to ensure you've clicked on an enemy.
- an optional portrait gadget. The only thing I miss from the default UI is seeing player/target portrait.
- Textures! In WoW I've been spoiled by ElvUI and the ability to change the UF textures. I'm unsure if the Rift API even allows this, but if so I'd love to see some more added. Hell, I'd even take a small tutorial to add some myself so I can extract them from elsewhere
- Buff management integration. I'd love to change the stacking (horizontal or vertical) of my buffs and filter out things like "plant tracking".

If I think of more I'll share.
I've been trying to get my friends and guildies to switch to Gadgets; hopefully someday it'll be like a DPS meter and everyone "needs" it
