Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid.
Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.


Quick Start



You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Macros

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

Hey

Thanks for this great addon. Had to be said first.

Now I got some questions:

1. Is there a way to define which gadget shows on top of another gadget?
I'm using the SimpleUnitFrames for myself and target unit frame and would like to overlay a castbar since it doesn't provide one of its own.

The problem is that the castbar always ends up behind the unitframe.

2. Is it possible to add an option "my current group" to teh group frames? On my healer I prefer having groupframes around for my group even in a raid. At the moment I have to edit the gadget everytime I end up in another group.

I am considering making the group frames appear/disappear depending on whether or not someone is in the group. The problem with this is that if you're in combat and someone joins a group that is currently hidden (quite likely in PVP), I won't be able to display it.

This is something I have asked Trion to sort out loads of times, and a solution should be on the way "some time after Storm Legion is released".

While we wait for that, I might add the functionality in, and just put a note where the frame should be if I'm unable to display a group with people in it. It'll suck a bit, but I think is probably preferable to having 20 frames on the screen in a 5-man.

That seems to be from the Currency gadget, and looks like a call is being made to pick up a nil currency. Maybe a currency was removed in 1.11 that you have saved (I don't know how that Gadget actually works unfortunately).

If you mention it on the page for Gadgets:Currency, Adelea should be able to sort it for you hopefully.

Is there a way to set up group/raid frames to go inactive when not in the appropriate group/raid environment? Even better would be to have a group item disable when there are no members in that group. Since you can't click through transparent areas it means atm that I am creating/deleting group frames depending on 5 man / 10 man / raid

Not sure why it would have disappeared though, that's kinda odd. You're not using Adelea's Docker addon are you? Gadgets has Docker integration enabled, which means the button will hide itself inside the Dock if you're using it.
Changing your UI scale can also cause buttons to go AWOL.

Ever since the big 1.10 patch hit, I have lost the gear icon for gadgets and I can'r seem to get it back. I have deleted and re-installed gadgets and that hasn't worked either. is the a "/" command that I can use or is there a fix?

It wont stop it working, but it will stop it doing it unnecessarily!

And thanks - it didnt bother me until I moved all the buttons to the left side - then it became very annoying =)

btnMenu popup location

Hi,

You default to putting the top right corner of the popup in the center of the button.

This is fine - unless the button is on the left or bottom of the screen!

I've modified my local copy of wtGadgetButton.lua as follows:

This way each time it is shown, it checks to see where on screen it is, and positions the popup to grow towards the center of the screen - where there will always be room.

Not at the moment, no. I need to look at the built in buff panels and see if I can port some of the functionality over from Gadgets:Buffs into them.

I've set myself a deadline of v1.0 of Gadgets prior to Storm Legion release, so I'm focusing on quality and maintainability more than new features right now. Buffs is one of the (many) areas I need to look at, as they are a bit of a mess right now.

It was possibly due to server lag as the server (Icewatch EU) has had some issues the last few weeks, but switching to the default UI I saw no issues with slow to update health pools there. I'll test it again at some point this reset and see how it goes, as the latency is dying down somewhat.

Thankyou for the other things. I know they may seem small, but it's the little bits of polish that really make an addon awesome, at least for me
