One more that has cropped up =)
Is it possible to have every click on a list reported back to the addon? I display a list inside a scrollwindow that is used to select which things to display. Clicking on something acts as a toggle, so clicking it once adds it, and a second click removes it. Now, if the user clicks on Item1, if they want to remove it, they need to click on ItemX, then click back on Item1, then again on ItemX to remove that too. |

A start would be to be able to set the font size and color (and maybe background) for each list item. that would allow the "look" of a categorized list. maybe an indention level too of a certain # of pixels for each item?
An extension of that would be to have generic "levels" of item in the list, with the ability to set font properties for each level. So a Level 1 item would be like a heading 1, a Level 2 would be a heading 1, a Level 3 would be normal text, etc. You could implement it as an extra property per item. So you would have the item text, the value, and now an item Level, associated with each item index. You could provide default settings for a basic level 1 heading, level 2 heading, and normal text with the ability to modify the look of each. That sounds like "work" so you may have other priorities first. :-) I love this library so far!! Thanks for providing it!! Grebew Quote:

what's next?
Hi - do you have a roadmap of what enhancements you are working on next, and a timing of the next versions? The only reason I ask is because a couple things I tweaked and then you released another version that already did that.
thanks again for a great library! Grebew |

I've added a TODO list to the main description page. As for *when*, that's somewhat variable. When I find time in between raids and questing on Ember Isle.
I'm currently working on the multi-select mode for SimpleList. I want to get the API just right and retain backwards compatibility, so it'll take a little while. I'm also working on a tabview, which is also taking some time. |

First, thanks for this, nice to have some widgets that the default rift ui doesn't have (yet at least).
I had a bit of trouble with the SimpleSelect widget. Basically, I have an option to remove any item on the list, and then I recreate the table used to display the items, and set the widget to show a default value. However, it didn't always change the value back to default or trigger the ItemSelect event. I tracked it down to this part of SetSelectedIndex(): if index == self.selectedIndex then return end From what I gathered, when an item from the list is removed with SetSelectedItem used afterwards to change the box to show something else that is still on the list, the new selection might be in the same index as the old removed item, which then prevents the selected item from updating with that code in place. Another thing, is it possible to fix the framelevel issues with the SimpleSelect boxes? At the moment, they generally go below other frames when opened, like buttons or sliders I have below them, or even another SimpleSelect box. |

I've found the best workaround for this is to set the frame level for each widget higher than widgets which are further down the screen. I do this in my Layout function, where I set the frame level of the first widget I layout to the number of widgets in total and then decrement for each successive widget. |

I've just uploaded v1.5.3 which should fix the problem with no ItemSelect event after changing the items in SimpleList and SimpleSelect. However, it will still not trigger an ItemSelect event when SetSelected* is called with the same item as is currently selected because this can cause infinite loops.

Actually, don't use v1.5.3, it can cause an infinite loop if you call SetItems from an ItemSelected handler. I'm going to solve the problem a different way.

I've uploaded v1.5.4 now, which reverts the v1.5.3 change and instead clears the current selection when SetItems is called.

I've uploaded v1.7 which adds item level support to SimpleList, a RemoveEvents function for SimpleTooltip and a new SimpleTabView widget.
Grebew, the items levels in SimpleList should allow you to do nested categories. See the docs for more details. |
