Creating alert
Suggestions.
1. Clicking on an alert doesn't automatically bring up it's properties. You must click edit. I think it would streamline the process if clicking an alert displayed it's properties and the edit button can be removed. 2. Please make the skill name once selected the default name of the alert. It may not always be the case, but I am sure it fits the 80/20 rule. 3. On the bottom panel of the alert properties you have a checkbox to enable/disable auto learning buffs. This is a great spot for other global information. I would to suggest that a feature be added here for placement as well. Could be Align top/bottom/right/left and space in pixels. This would align as suggested to your last placed alert. So the process could be, create the initial alert, place it using the design layout feature, the position of the last alert moved is stored and new alerts are positioned relative using the alignment options suggested.

Wont work, eats cpu
First time user here, and I cant get this to install. It wont work for me, and eats up about 70% of my CPU.
I tried to import a set, then all hell broke loose. (error spam below) Tried disabling/re enabling Tried deleting karuul alert folder/reinstalling Karuul alert - no change Using latest version 1.26 typing /karuulalert doesn't do anything Exited / restarted Rift multiple times - no change. Kinda funny how the errors are persistent even though i've reinstalled the addon. (and exited/restarted rift) Continually spams the error warnings in my chatbox: (and i mean CONTINUALLY, text just flies off the screen) [Karuul's Alerting System] Incorrect function usage. [Karuul's Alerting System] Parameters: (Frame: kAlert.object.Frame3.0x486a5f80),nil [Karuul's Alerting System] Paramter types: Frame, nil [Karuul's Alerting System] Function documentation: [Karuul's Alerting System] Sets the width of this frame. Undefined results if the frame already has two pinned X coordinates. [Karuul's Alerting System] Not permitted on a frame with "restricted" SecureMode while the addon environment is sercured. [Karuul's Alerting System] Frame:SetWidth(width) -- number [Karuul's Alerting System] Parameters: [Karuul's Alerting System] width: The new width of this frame. Performance Addon CPU: 71.1% Karuul's Alerting System: 70.0% Whats wrong? I'm interested enough in this addon to spend an hour of my time trying to troubleshoot this. I'm hoping it will be worth it.

First of all, thank you. I love this add-on.
I wanted to let you know I found what seems to be a bug. I have set up an alert for an ability to show when its ready. Although it works fine when I first make it, if I relog or reloadui then the alert disappears. To be clear: Ability is checked and ready is checked. This has happened to me for 2 different abilities and I have been able to reproduce the error without fail. The only current option is to remake the alert entirely. However, as previously stated, it will only work until I need to reloadui or I log off. Thank you again for all your work. Edit: I tested this on V1.25 and it works fine. So it seems to be an issue with V1.26

However, if you have a large number of "ability" alerts, it is possible that 1.26 will trigger a performance warning. Only retrieving information for 10 abilities takes 15ms on my system. The maximum total time that can be spent is 100ms, and that includes the screen updates. You seem to have at least 15 ability alerts configured. If you also run on an older system or laptop, it is possible that the same operation takes closer to 50ms, leaving much less time before a warning is triggered. For the next version, I've change the ability processing to account for larger sets on slower machines. I cannot magically make your system faster of course, but effectively the updating gets divided over multiple screen updates (frames) if needed. Before, this was done in a more limited fashion. I expect there will be a new version on Wednesday at the latest. |

gave up with trying to get this addon to work.. Not because the configuration is teadious - it is, not because layout is a pain to get everything aligned - it is, but because the alerts are not showing up.
First - I ran out of room in a set and had to use a subset. Not sure if this is where hell breaks loose. I like the flexibility of configuring each alert, good options and configuration. I tried each individual alert alone and it works. As I began filling my set and subset it just stopped displaying them. I disabled all my addons and no good - still not working. I downloaded a previous version and the same thing. The only time I see an error is when I edit layout. get a reference nil for leftPress() I hope to see this stabilized a bit as I like the addon.. |
